This project comprised the construction of a single block of 22 flats comprising 16 one bedroomed units, 5 two bedroomed units and one bedroomed disabled unit with communal laundry room together with external works and drainage.
The site, formally occupied by workshops and a petrol filling station was heavily contaminated, requiring careful planning and management to ensure the safe and effective removal of contaminates prior to and throughout the project.
The works included the installation of a piled foundation, beam and block ground floors and hollow core intermediate floors. The external walls were constructed using traditional rendered block work with feature render panels, precast concrete window cills and high efficiency softwood windows. The building features extensive balconies to the rear facade and Juliet balconies to the front.
External works comprised the installation of drainage and parking facilities and the construction of an extensive retaining structure to retain the steep disused railway embankment to the rear of the site.
