Sculpting the Future of Firepool

Gadd Homes have been involving local primary school pupils in a competition to design a sculpture for their new development at Firepool Lock.  Pupils from Northtown Primary and St Andrews C of E Primary School worked hard on a design for a sculpture that would be fitting for a ‘quiet area’ set within a new phase of apartments and townhouses overlooking the Taunton & Bridgwater Canal on the edge of the town centre.

Eleven year old Martha Wright from Northtown Primary was awarded first prize.  Martha will be lucky enough to see her design re-produced and set in the grounds of the new development.  Second prize was awarded to Lydia and Luke Burton from St Andrews, and nine year old George Binding of Northtown was lucky to scoop a special award for his portrayal of the history of cider making in Taunton!

Louisa Johnson, Field Sales Manager of Firepool Lock said: ‘It was an extremely difficult task to choose a winner from the number of entries that were submitted, they were all fantastic, some really inspiring designs.  The children all worked very hard, and we would like to thank all of the pupils for taking part.
