Going for Gold

Local construction and development company A&H Gadd Ltd are sponsoring Lucy Shuker in her bid to reach the Beijing Olympics.

Lucy, who lives in Cotford St Luke has been soaring up the world rankings since beginning her tennis career just three years ago. The former Hampshire badminton player took up the game after a motorcycle accident in 2001 that left her paralysed from the chest down.

A&H Gadd Ltd who are currently on site building an extension to Abbeyfield Extra Care Home in Taunton, are sponsoring Lucy £400 which covers the annual cost of her tennis balls.  Paul Hughes, A&H Gadd Group Managing Director said ‘We are delighted to provide this support to Lucy.  It will be a privilege to be associated with someone who has achieved so much nationally and internationally.  In Lucy’s drive for continued development and improvement we recognise a real synergy with our own business strategy.’

In order to give Lucy some incentive the group have agreed to double the sponsorship if she gets seeded in the top 10!

Lucy is hoping to compete in the Beijing Paralympics next year and is currently ranked British Women’s No1 and 14th in the World.  Everyone at A&H Gadd wishes Lucy every success.
